•  Units MUST display a banner and/or sign identifying them.

  • Units must stay in their assigned order, unless directed otherwise by a parade official.

  • All units must maintain an appropriate space between themselves and the next unit (no less than 2 car lengths, not to exceed 3 car lengths)

  • Parades are forward moving. DO NOT stop your unit for any performance.

  • Any unit whose participants argue with, use foul language, or refuse to follow the request of a parade official will be removed from the lineup IMMEDIATELY.

  • The allowed number and type of vehicles differs by the type of unit. All limitations are detailed in the application. All parade vehicles are required to be in safe, road-worthy condition, fully insured, and operated in a safe and responsible manner at all times.

  • Vehicles must follow a straight course, in a cautious and safe manner with no quick starts, stops, peeling of rubber, swerving back and forth, or reckless driving of any kind.

  • Units may not bring vehicles/trailers/floats that are not listed here in the application. If your unit decides to add a vehicle/trailer/float that is not listed in the application, you must receive written permission from the parade coordinator no less than 10 days prior to the Parade.

  • No person(s) shall ride on the hood, roof, trunk, door frames, or any portion of any vehicles in an inappropriate manner at any time. No jumping on or off of vehicles is permitted.

  • Traffic citations will be issued by the Aurora Police Department for violation of any municipal ordinance or State vehicle code.

  • There shall be no throwing of any type of items from vehicles to spectators. Items which have been pre-approved for distribution along the parade route must be handed directly to spectators. Persons distributing such materials must walk alongside their own unit and not intrude upon another unit's activities or presentation space. Units distributing such materials (i.e. candy, fliers, flags, etc.) must walk all the way to the curb to hand out the items.

  • It is the responsibility of the parade applicant to ensure that all members of their unit refrain from inappropriate conduct or vulgar behavior.

  • It is the responsibility of the parade applicant to ensure that all members of their unit dress in a manner compliant not only with city, state and federal law, but also ensuring that all nipples, breasts and buttocks are covered at all times. Short shorts are acceptable; g-strings and thongs are not. Apparel should not include inappropriate language or images. Law enforcement officers marching in the parade are asked to participate out of uniform, unarmed, and without official vehicles.

  • Any unit which has music, live or recorded, must set the volume at a reasonable level so as not to intrude on another unit's presentation. Any parade official may request the volume to be lowered as deemed necessary. Failure to comply with this request will result in the unit's removal from the lineup.

  • Parade units must return to their designated disbursement area before stopping and unloading.

  • Anyone with alcohol at the parade staging area or parade route will have their entire unit removed from the event.

  • Aurora Pride reserves the right to remove any unit in violation of the rules and regulations at any time.

  • All participants must follow directions from authorized Parade and Law Enforcement Officials. This includes all uniformed public safety officials and anyone else identifiable as a parade official.

  • Aurora Pride reserves the right to make modifications to any rules and regulations as they deem necessary for the safety and viewing enjoyment of spectators.

  • It is the responsibility of the parade applicant to inform their unit's participants (and parents or guardians of minor participants) of the Parade Rules and Regulations prior to the event, as well as to manage and communicate with their unit particpants specific Staging, Drop & Go, Event Procedures, Parade Updates, and Weather Contingency or Emergency Plan Details both prior to and during the event. The parade applicant is responsible for ensuring that their unit upholds the Parade Rules and Regulations within the event site.

  • All applicants must provide proof of a comprehensive general liability insurance policy for protection against damages in the event an injury or mishap occurs. The City of Aurora, 44 East Downer Place, Aurora, IL 60505, and Aurora Pride, 1243 Star Grass Ln, Aurora, IL 60506 must be named on the Certificate of Insurance as primary, non-contributory additional insured listing the Aurora Pride Parade name, location, dates and times. The Certificate of Insurance must also include the following minimum limits of insurance coverage: $1,000,000 per occurrence; $2,000,000 aggregate coverage for general liability.   • Parade participants give Aurora Pride, as parade producer, permission to photograph members of their parade unit, record voices, reproduce voices and pictures during the event, and use names, voices and pictures in advertising, publicity and promotional activities in all media now existing or hereafter created without compensation.

  • Parade unit applicant for itself, and all participants therein, agree that neither the City of Aurora nor any public or private property owner whose property is utilized for the Parade, shall be liable for injury or damage to the property of the Applicant, employees, invitees, customers, or any other person in or around the Applicant's parade unit, regardless of the cause or source of the injury or damage. The Applicant further agrees that neither the City of Aurora, Illinois, nor any other public or private owner, whose property is utilized for the event, shall be liable for any damages arising directly or indirectly from any act or omission of event sponsors or any customer at the event and does hereby agree to waive any and all claims of causes of action for damages, losses, or expenses against Aurora Pride, its agents, public officials, officers, employees, and authorized volunteers.

  • To the fullest extent permitted by law, the Applicant shall indemnify, keep and save harmless Aurora Pride, the City of Aurora Illinois, its agents, officers and employees and any other public or private property owner whose property is utilized for the event, against all injuries, deaths, losses, damages, claims, suits, liabilities, judgments, costs and expenses, which arise directly or indirectly from any negligence or reckless or willfull misconduct of the Applicant, its participants, employees or agents. The Applicant shall pay all its own expenses, appear, defend and pay all charges of attorneys and all costs and other expenses arising from or incurred in connection therewith. If any judgment shall be rendered against Aurora Pride, the City of Aurora Illinois, its agents or another property owner in such action, the Applicant shall, at its own expense, satisfy and discharge the same.

  • I/We hereby affirm that I/we have read and understand the Parade Rules and Regulations and the Hold Harmless and Indemnification and agree to the terms expressed therein. I/we agree to abide by all terms and conditions set forth by Aurora Pride and understand that failure to comply with set rules and regulations will result in removal from the parade and possible denial of future participation.
